This is Out-of-Specification inventory!Approximately 60 m.t. of off-grade Phthalo Blue 15.3 (green shade) pigment flush. Approximately 40% solids. Priced at US$1750 m.t. FOB New York.The Phthalo Blue 15.3 (green shade) 40% pigment flush is what we call "out-of-specification". An important US customer looked at a sample of this product and reported "Although the strength, shade and body seem reasonable the washout is bad." Flush color is a form of pigment where the water used during the pigment manufacturing process has been replaced by a hydrocarbon or oil based varnish. Since water content varies from pigment to pigment, solids content in flushed colors also varies - usually in the range of 35 to 45%. Flushes are most often used in offset printing inks but it is important to understand that they are basically a high concentration of pigments in a hydrocarbon or oil based resin. So they can be used by paint manufacturers who can blend them off into regular production.
