Super Absorbent Polyacrilate or SAP is typically used in granular form, similar to table salt. It absorbs the baby's urine and turns it into a gel that is trapped beneath a cover sheet that allows the baby to stay drier and helps to prevent diaper rash. The gel that is formed moulds to the shape of the baby's body making the diaper more comfortable. The SAP helps to improve the capacity and retention of the disposable diaper, allowing for thinner products with improved performance. SAP is a cross-linked sodium polyacrylate capable of absorbing upto 400times its weight.
