| | | In the Philippines squids are locally called pusit it is cooked in various ways such as adobong pusit, inihaw na pusit (stuffed squid) and squid rings also known as calamares.
Calamares is a dish of Spanish origin localized by adding calamansi (Philippine lemon). This dish is often served with steamed rice or fried rice. Calamares also goes well with beer known as pulutan hence the reason it is often served in bars, pubs or any place where young groups or professionals alike unwind.
This dish is so pleasing that even children enjoy snacking on them. Similar to krispy tahong it also has a distinct taste that children find themselves going back for them. It is very crunchy but easy to bite on. Not to mention the various nutrient that our entire product has to offer.

It is very popular in the province of Cavite located in the Philippines. The scientific name for tahong is perna viridis. Historically, tahong was considered as pest in the Second World War until its discovery as food source. Tahong arrived in the Philippines in 1955 and was scattered in several areas, the first mussel farm was established in Kawit, Cavite wherein residents mastered the art of mussel farming and started propagating it in nearby coastal province in Cavite. It then became the primary source of livelihood for our townsfolk for several years. Several farming methods are used by nearby provinces such as Bacoor, Noveleta, Kawit, Ternate, etc. But the most popular method used is stake and rope-web method. Tahong is considered a major source of livelihood in Cavite that some micro entrepreneurs engaged in tahong product development.
